Rocking Cosy-Chic Without Looking Lazy

With Halloween done and dusted and barely a single leaf left clinging to any tree, we think it’s safe to say that the curtain has fallen on autumn and the spotlight has turned its focus to winter. Yup, it is the season of pumpkin spiced lattes, watching Stranger Things in one go and rocking a wardrobe that is as comfy as pyjamas but chic enough to wear in public.

The question is, how do you look cosy-chic without looking lazy and dumpy?

Well, to help you out a little bit, we have pulled together a few tips and tricks that will help you look fifty shades of sublime without impacting on your desperate desire to feel snuggly. Enjoy.

Live In Your Jeggings

Of all the hybrids to spring into the limelight, jeggings are the winner, especially during the winter months. They are that staple item that allows you to fall out of bed, get dressed in the dark and still look good. Being soft and stretchy, they offer you all the comfort in the world, but with the added bonus of looking like jeans. Just pull on some slouch boots, a striped tee and an oversized sweater and you’re good to go.

Cuff Those Jeans

‘Tis the season to wear your comfiest jeans and put everything else into boxes in the attic. The temperature has dropped and the idea of faffing around in search of something to wear is about as unappealing as a school dinner. To avoid looking a little bit magnolia (read: bland) try cuffing them and pulling on a pair of suede ankle boots, like these ones from Bourne Shoes. Then chuck on that thick cardigan that is all too tempting to overlook and you will have achieved the perfect balance of comfy and cool with the added bonus of showing off your new footwear.

Flowy But Wooly

Just because it is winter does not mean you have to neglect every item in your summer wardrobe. In fact, you should embrace it because the flowy pieces tend to be the comfiest. We’re talking chiffon dresses and silky skirts. All you have to do then is winterfy them by chucking on a wool sweater, a pair of thick wool leggings and one of those leather coats with the sheepskin trim. Voila. You get that flowy look with a gorgeous winter silhouette. Gorgeous.

Rock The Top Knot

Given your bathroom floor has officially become the coldest place on earth, taking a long shower in the mornings is not always the most tempting. That is where the top knot can save your look. The messy bun on top of your head will not only hide the fact you have greasy, unwashed hair, it will also look extra stylish this winter. That or you could just pull on any number of hats, whether it be a thick beanie or one of those floppy hats with a large rim. It’s your call. Just know it can be a real time saver.

Cover Up

Most of the time, our comfiest clothes tend to be our rattiest and tattiest, like that jumper you got from that team-building exercise you got in ‘97. Well, you can still wear this, all you have to do is cover up with scarves, statement jewellery, headwraps, boot socks and coats. Done
