A Trip to Leicester

At the end of 2017, Kallum and I decided to have a couple of nights away as a mini break. Our initial idea was to go to Manchester as there is plenty to do and the Christmas Market was on at the time however the prices of hotels put us right off! This is when we decided to just search Christmas Markets in google and pick anywhere off the list. Long story short we ended up in Leicester, the Christmas Market was about 10 stalls but the rest of the trip made up for it!

For the hotel we decided on Hotel Campanile as it was fairly cheap ( £148, 2 nights, all in breakfast included ) and was a good distance from the town centre. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised when we got there, the room was fairly big with a double bed, drink making facilities and a shower etc. The staff were lovely and everything seemed clean. We couldn't complain about the food either and certainly didn't go hungry!

One thing I would mention (as I like to be as honest as possible) is that there were 2 lights not working in the room (one smashed and one blown) but we did mention this at reception when we left and they apologised and said it would get sorted. Other than this though everything was really nice for our short visit and we did say we would visit a Campanile hotel in the future.

Things to do in Leicester. First on the list was The National Space Centre. I had actually been here as a kid but Kallum had never visited before so it was our top priority. The centre was only a short drive away from our hotel and the parking was just a couple of pounds for the whole day. Entry was £14 each for all day which was reasonable considering how much there is there to see. The only downfall is when we went the Planetarium was closed for refurbishment so we missed out - because of this though we were given a free annual pass which means we can go back when it is open again.

Next, the Christmas Market as mentioned. We were quite disappointed by this as it was literally a handful of stalls but I guess if we'd have researched that a little better than we would have known. The actual Leicester market was amazing though, so many fresh food stalls so we definitely enjoyed walking around here.

After walking around the city centre, in and out of shops, we decided to stop off for a spot of lunch. We must have walked around for at least half an hour before deciding to eat at Coast to Coast. The Stateside Special Menu caught our attention with the Jumbo Hot Dog and I can tell you now it was amazing (but definitely Jumbo). Not forgetting the Homemade Lemonade that got me hooked! 10/10 from me.

My favourite part of our trip to Leicester you ask? The snow we were blessed with! It made the whole trip feel really cosy and special which I loved!

So that was our little trip to Leicester. Have you ever been? Where should we go next?
